Yesterdays Field Trips

The girls both had their pumpkin patch field trips yesterday. Unfortunately for Elle she went to bed late and had to get up early for her field trip so she wasn't really in the best mood. Well, she as at first and then a series of very bad events happened. First she loved the hay ride, then maybe halfway through she decided that she didn't like it because she couldn't walk around. This above photo is right before the first meltdown...which was a full body fit until the hay ride stopped. Then as soon as the ride did stop we were at the pumpkin patch, I of course was getting my bag ready and grabbing some tissue and I looked to grab Elle and she was already off the ride and in the pumpkin patch, so much for the "helpful" parents I was surrounded by!
This was the first pumpkin she saw and she was done. Seriously, she picked it up and wanted to go back on the tractor and leave. But when you're with a group of people you don't really get to do what you want, you're on group time, which is unexplainable to a 17 month old baby.

Then another series of events happened, she wanted to walk around with her pumpkin, which was adorable and sweet, but the ground is covered in thick mud and thick pumpkin vines, not so easy for a little toddler to get around in. She tripped and smacked her face against her pumpkin. She started to moan and I told her that it was ok and that she'd be fine, luckily that worked, THE FIRST TIME, she then turned around, tripped again and this time her pumpkin scrapped the side of her face, which also caused her teeth to cut the inside of her mouth, which led to a giant silent scream, and in cold weather that leads to a runny nose, Elle's face was a mess of blood, dirt, tears and snot. Not a happy time.
(This is right before the first fall)
(This is right after the first fall and right before the second fall)

This is as we were waiting for everyone else to be done, I decided it would just be easier if we stayed on the wagon, after Elle calmed down she started petting her pumpkin, it was sweet. This didn't last long though, she totally threw a fit after this and then once people were on the stupid ride again and it started she threw another fit the entire ride back. Yikes.

Onto Eva. She was at my moms hanging out while Elle and I were on the field trip of torture. So I picked Eva up from my moms and left Elle there to play while I took pics of Eva at school. This was her first field trip, ever. She went on a big school bus, she was buddied up with a teacher, actually two teachers and went to the pumpkin patch all by herself. I had to stop myself from crying at the school bus. I took about a thousand pics of her on the bus, it was actually a school bus I use to ride back in the day, crazy huh?

Eva was adorable and especially proud of her new rain boots we got just the day before.

If I haven't mentioned this before Eva goes to the Corvallis High School preschool, it's where I went to high school and it's a range of ages 3-5, the teachers are the high school students and it's a great atmosphere. The students plan the lessons and what they will be doing. Eva loves it, she has her own cubby, and loves the play kitchen area...we may have a budding chef on our hands. SO here she is getting ready to leave, p.s. there are about 40 pics of this but I'm condensing it.

She was just as excited as I was for her to be on her first bus ride. She looked so big and at the same time she looked so tiny in those seats with no seat belts. I was very proud of her and I wanted her to go alone without me. The parents had the option to go with but I asked her and she didn't want me to come, and it actually made me happy, I think this is a good amount of independence, it puts my parenting to the test.

Off they go! :(

And the return! Eva came running to me when she saw me, so sweet, I was so proud of her.

Eva had a great time, her trip was much more of a success than poor little Ellie's. We're going again as a family tomorrow, I think Elle will have a much better time being well rested and I don't think we're going to try the hay ride again. There's so much more stuff she missed out on so I'll get plenty of pics of that, wish us luck!! ;)

Adorable pics! Lilly went on her preschool pumpkin field trip yesterday too. One of the h.s. students who kept track of her there took some pics, and I can't wait to see them! btw you can keep track of the Time out for Women schedule through deseretbook.com - but I'm not sure if it's even coming to Oregon this next year. I think the closest is Seattle. Booooo! Could you tell that was Sheri Dew in that picture??? She rocks.
