It's finally here...

I will be at the Carmike tonight. I'm a huge fan of Jacob...in the book. New Moon was my favorite book out of the series, I hope the movie doesn't let me down (ie: like the first). I love Edward and Bella but I absolutely fell in love with Jacob in New Moon...I don't really like Taylor Lautner but I'm thinking that it's possible that he might change my mind in this movie. We'll see, I can't wait!! As is tradition (as of last year) Michelle and I will be attending together...we will get awesome pictures of the night!

Bored on a Saturday = impromtu project
It's not like I don't have anything to do today, I do...I still have my chore for the day...which is actually my same chore every day (load the dishwasher). I vowed to do some laundry today to...and later I'm going to my moms to do some crafts/sewing, which I'm really excited about...but until then...there's nothing to do.
Boring. Bored. Burrito.
Anyway, I was making the girls lunch and we had some spray paint on top of the fridge...left over from Halloween (don't ask). I thought, you know Self, I hate that green chair...yes, I am the one who painted it green, but it wasn't the green that I anticipated. Anyway, I thought, Self you're doing absolutely nothing right now PLUS you have an entire can of spray paint just sitting atop the fridge. Self, I think you know what to do:
What do you think about my new "Colonial Red" chair? I like it a lot. Originally I was going for pastel chairs in my dining room but I think I'm over the pastels...they are too muted and it looks dowdy. I like the bright red chair...I have black spray paint too...I wonder if I have enough to do another chair...I'm not a big fan of black and red though..too over done.
p.s. I totally hate this chair, it's really uncomfortable to sit in, if you even remotely have junk in your trunk your bum cheeks hang over, it's impossible to sit in...I deem it a kids chair.

My last look/My first look of the Dress Challenge
I technically wore this outfit on Sunday but it was the first day of this week so I figure it counts. This dress makes me feel like a housewife in the 50's so that's why I posed like I couldn't figure out if I should do the ironing or bake some cookies (neither of which I actually do).My hair is horrid in this picture. Ignore.
Earrings: My fav brushed metal silver ones from Target...I found them yesterday in a little pocket in my purse, yay!
Take: Shade
Dress: DownEast Basics (which I got for $6.55!)
Cardigan: Chaus (I think, I have no idea what that is, it's a hand me down from Jaqui)
Shoes: Charlotte Russe (I have yet to wear these but I was so happy when I found them, I've been looking for nude shoes for-ev-er)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
What I learned:
- jeans aren't as comfortable as dresses (unless you have a great pair...which I don't)
- when I love what I'm wearing I feel beautiful no matter what it is
- wearing a dress is easy to do and you feel put together and classy and like you care about what you look like- but not in a conceded way, in a taking care of yourself way.
- Elle is a lot girlier than I thought, she loves wearing tights and dresses...and I think I'll start taking advantage of that...Eva was never girly, and I just assumed that Elle wasn't either...I assumed wrong.
Day FOUR of the Dress Challenge
Keeping it fun- this dress makes me feel happy!
I've been feeling silly trying to pose for the camera so I decided to take a leap. This is much more me, right?
H2T (anyone know what that's from?):
Mustard Headband: ZIDA
Necklace: Dress Barn (yes, they have some cute stuff and some great deals!)
Cardigan: Kohls (hand-me-down from Heather)
Dress: DownEast Basics (borrowed from Heather)
Statement ring: Kohls (I know you can't really see it but I am wearing it)
Boots: Target
Plus I have mutual tonight and that always makes me feel happy and young...actually it makes me feel old BUT I'm with the young and that makes me happy!
Day Three: Dress/Skirt Challenge
This photo is: fuzzy
I was going to borrow a dress from a friend and make a super cute outfit...then I remembered I have mutual tomorrow and I'll be seen by actual people so I decided to save it for Thursday. So I was left with one of the last decent dresses I have.
This outfit is pretty boring, and I didn't have time to make it interesting. I just started babysitting a little girl and I had one shot to get dressed and one shot at getting this picture!
Half-Sleeve shirt: DownEast basics
Dress: Target (hand me down from a friend)
Boots: Target
Gold brushed metal earrings: Target
Dress/Skirt Challenge: Day Dos
Hello?
Oh...hey...1993, never thought I'd hear from you again.
Are the 90's calling? All we hear is how the 80's are back...and they totally are (I can't decide if I'm for or against this) but the 90's flannel is everywhere too, right? Last night my friend Heather and I took a quick trip to Eugene (I've never been to Eugene more in my life than the past month) and our last stop was WalMart for some fabric...of course we are women and we had to stop and browse the clothes real quick.
And there shining in fluorescent lights was Miley Cyrus' mug. Barf. I'm not a fan, I don't get it and I'm glad my daughter is anti...of course she was told to be anti but whatever, that's totally a different discussion.
The point, I saw this great purple flannel dress (I use the term dress very lightly...maybe a dress for a 16 year old but for me, more of a long tunic) and I was oddly attracted to it. It was kind of white trash and when I looked at it I heard Pearl Jam and Smashing Pumpkins playing within the walls of my head. I took it off the rack and held it. I kind of liked it, it looked comfy and it was really soft to the touch. As we were looking at fabrics I decided I should try it on, why not? So I did. And I loved it. It was cute and as lame as this is I knew that it was totally me...which is kind of depressing...my inner 90's 15 year old must be feeling the need to spread her wings. Then the price tag, $11. Sold. So I present to you my 90's carefree look, courtesy of Miley Cyrus...I kind of want to punch myself for adding $$ to her bank account...even if it's only $11.
Wow, the lighting here sucks. You can't see all of it's purpley wonderfulness...and my beautiful mustard colored headband...I love that headband.
Headband: ZIDA
Tank: Shade
Dress/Tunic: WalMart
Leggings: ON workout leggings...they are capri length, so I can't get too far without tucking them back into my boots.
Boots: Honestly I don't remember, it's either, Kohls', Payless or...possibly Target...I didn't even know I had them till Heather pointed them out a couple weeks ago.
There you have Day two of the challenge...I honestly have no clue what I'm going to wear tomorrow. I'm babysitting and I'm starting to think I should have worn this tomorrow....oh well.
Day One of Dress/Skirt Challenge
Now I'm not really a "dress girl" I've never felt that I look that great in most dresses, I have to try on at least 10-20 before I find one that I like. That being the case I don't own a lot of dresses. In fact the dresses that are in my closet were all purchased within the last few months...so I'm bending the rules and making this a dress & skirt challenge week for myself courtesy of {have a cute day}.
So here's my day one:
Don't worry I didn't wear my hair like that out in public...it's my new way to "do" my hair, I just braid it when it's wet and it usually turns out pretty good...like that messy grungy wavy look.
Anyway-
Undershirt: target tank: around $7-$9 is my guess
cardi-walmart ($7!) (thank you Ma for that awesome $20 gift card!)
Skirt- AE (I bought this skirt a thousand years ago and I loved it so much I never could let it go...and it fits again! since I purchased it a thousand years ago I have no idea how much it was probably between $20-30)
Boots- Target: $34.99
Necklace- Charlotte Russe $8
Sweet socks: walmart $3 (also purchased with my gift card from Ma!)
When I actually went out in public I had a ratted ponytail and my gold frosted drop earrings on...it was pretty fly. Oh, I'm totally from the 90's!
There's my Day one, did you do it? Do it! It's not too late...comment and tell me if you did it and I'll check your blog!! This is really fun. I actually went to WalMart tonight and found this dress that I thought looked super soft and comfy and it kind of reminded me of myself...so I took the first step...I TRIED IT ON...and you know what? It looked really good on me! I bought it and it was only $11! Thank you WalMart...you're totally awesome!! You will see that beauty tomorrow, promise.
STATEMENT rings
Everything...that's right everything you see here is under $7 and most of it is around $4.
Soooooo you can afford to try this trend. Do it, once you go BIG you'll never go back.
I bought my first statement ring over a month ago...I bought it for myself as a birthday present...I thought it was a big giant opal (my birthstone...which I've never been that fond of), turns out it's mother of pearl, go figure. Anyway, it's huge and silver and I love it. I wear it with anything and it makes me feel fancy...like I have great style, even if I'm waring a cardigan and jeans!
Now for the parade of rings...p.s. these are all from either Forever 21 or Charlotte Russe:
Pearls are "hot" right now and they are everywhere...if you can't handle the thought of strands and strands of pearl necklace's to complete the trend, how about a simple pearl cluster ring? You're totally on trend and it's super girly and fun! Forever 21 $3.80
For a more modern girl I give you this great lacquer ring with rhinestones that are reminiscent of art deco from Miami. It's a young fun ring. Forever 21 $5.80
Ahh, there's nothing like a great combo of colors shouting out to the world. I love these rhinestone colored rings. This one is called Lady something or other...I don't know, but it is very lady like in color, is it not? Loves it. Forever 21 $5.80
I'm a sucker for teal, who've thought? Teal, turquoise, blue-green, whatever you call it, it's a gorgeous color on anyone. This ring will go with something in your wardrobe. This is called the glisten ball...cute, right? Forever 21 $5.80
I love this ring...really love...like I might have to buy it today when/if I go to Eugene. It's gorgeous and etched and full of silvery goodness. Charlotte Russe: $4.00!
There is nothing in the world like a "pop-of-color" in an outfit. This is a great pop of color. I love orange lately...I don't know if it's the Beaver spirit in me or the fact that orange is such a great rich fall color but I love it. Charlotte Russe $4.00
Like I said before a cluster of colored rhinestones is super trendy right now, this is even a bigger statement than the previous ones...also you could probably seriously hurt someone if you needed too...I'm not condoning fighting BUT if you were in a dark alley wouldn't you kind of want this ring on? Charlotte Russe $4.00
Something more understated...if lots of color is too much too soon for you a great classic of black/white/silver will go with lots of choices and it's still a statement without screaming...like I said understated. I love the details around the stones. Charlotte Russe, $4.00
Last but not least is this great vintage looking flower ring. So pretty, so very, very, pretty. Charlotte Russe, $6.50
I tried to give a good variety of all the different kinds of statement rings that are out there...I like all of these rings that I picked but I wouldn't buy all of them for myself...unless I had extra $$. I hope I gave you a good variety and tickled your taste buds to try something new...at least try one on the next time your in a store...trust me you can get a great statement ring anywhere...I got my mother of pearl ring at Kohls! Of course if you're buying a trend I suggest shopping at one of these two stores I highlighted...when you spend $4 on a ring it's not so heart breaking when it's not on trend anymore or if you loose it for whatever reason.
hope your Monday is going great!
{have a cute day}
I just discovered a new blog that I love. I'm definitely a fashion blog follower on my Google Reader more than anything else and every once in a while I'll actually visit a real blog and click on all the side bars...I've come across some great new blogs that I love...have a cute day is one of my new favs.
Two sisters write this blog and they are from the great northwest (which is one of the reasons that I super love them...they dress how I'm going to dress because we're in the same weather) and they have great personal style.
I'm in the process of finding my style...so many of these fashion blog ladies new when they found their style...I don't know if I have a style...I know that I love fashion and I know what I love on others and I can create outfits for pretty much any occasion BUT I'm still not sure what I love for me...what my signature is.
Since loosing weight I feel comfortable in my own skin again...I can get up everyday and find something to wear...sometimes I even wear the same thing and I don't even care because I know I look good in it. I'm being more adventurous in my choices and I'm trying new things...things I never even tried on before because I knew they wouldn't fit or because I knew I wouldn't look good in it no matter what!
I guess my point in all of this is that I'm challenging myself to try things on...even if I have no $$ to buy them because I might discover something that looks amazing that I would have never picked before. At the {have a cute day} blog they are challenging their readers to wear a dress this week...and if they're brave enough to wear a dress everyday this week! Now I don't have enough dresses to do that BUT I think I might try to wear a dress twice this week...I don't think Sunday counts...maybe it does. They are also doing a giveaway for headbands this week..which is one of my new obsessions...I love my new bangs and headbands make me feel girly and pretty. Anyway, check out their blog, it's fun and they have great ideas about pairing things to make great outfits!
